Tokyo, March 25, 2003, 10:00 to 17:30
2003/02/28 updated
On March 25, 2003, the 13th GISPRI Symposium "Japan's Key Options in Aging Society with Declining Birthrate-Development and more advanced utilization of human resources-" will be held under the auspices of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Finnish Institute in Japan.

From early 21st Century, Japan is to face the very arrival of an aging society with declining birthrate. It is clear that, under the current socio-economic system, Japan will not be able to effectively address various issues anticipated in such a society, including the decrease of younger working population, slower economic growth rate, and increased burden of working generation for social welfare costs.

This symposium is to consider the "human resource development and employment" as a key in addressing the aging society with declining birthrate, and to provide lectures and discussion on the review of current system that seems to direct toward declining birthrate society, the development of a system to allow various forms of employment, and the desirable reforms of education system.

It is our pleasure to inform you of this symposium, as it is open for anyone with an interest in the subject.
